Description:

One of the world?s largest energy companies is looking to recruit a paralegal for the London-based Integrated Supply and Trading ('IST') Oil Legal team.

The individual will be responsible for providing professional legal support to the IST Oil lawyers. The Global IST Legal Group comprises some 30 lawyers spread across nine international office locations. The London based Legal team currently comprises 4 lawyers and supports three businesses: Europe/Africa Oil (EAO); and Finance and Energy Risk Management (FERM) and Energy Financial Services (EFS).
Specific responsibilities will include preparation, review and negotiation of transactional documents based on standard forms (notably ISDA, GTMA, IETA, EFET and Master Trading Agreements, guarantees and other credit support); establishing and maintaining contracts and know-how databases; undertaking legal research; and liaising generally with Trading Back-Office and Finance/Credit teams, as well as external contacts/counterparties.

The successful candidate should have a law degree and/or legal professional qualifications (LPC, Legal Executive or similar) and have prior experience in a paralegal or similar role (contract administration; trading control). Experience in an Energy and/or Financial/Commodities Trading environment is desirable, though not essential. Familiarity with ISDA documentation is of particular interest. Excellent written and drafting skills and ability to understand and apply detailed and complex contract/regulatory provisions are essential. Excellent commercial awareness is demanded as is strong interpersonal skills and the ability to operate effectively in a varied team environment.
Good negotiation skills and a confident approach to dealing with others are important.

We would expect a lawyer with with the given PQE to have gained the level of experience required, but this does not preclude applications from those with more or less PQE
