The Employment Law Group (ELG) has 2 openings for paralegals. These positions may be domiciled anywhere in the U.S..
The ELG handles all US and Canadian employment related matters up to the point that a matter is filed in court, including any demand letters sent from opposing counsel and administrative agency charges of discrimination (e.g. EEOC or state equivalent). Once a complaint is filed in a court, a separate legal team handles those matter. ELG paralegals request and review personnel records; investigate and respond to attorney demand letters and records requests; evaluate and respond to wage and hour demands; investigate charges of discrimination and draft position statements; review and provide feedback to HR regarding internal privileged and confidential employee investigations; conducts research and works on special projects.
Preferred qualifications:
Employment law counseling and/or litigation experience
Experience directing, conducting, reviewing and/or providing feedback about internal investigations
Experience interpreting and applying employer policies to evaluate employee performance or conduct and assessing legal risk or potential discipline and termination decisions
Experience conducting legal research and drafting legal memos
Experience with researching, tracking and communicating requirements of federal, state and local laws, regulations and court decisions
Experience defending administrative agency charges of discrimination (e.g. EEOC), including investigating allegations, reviewing documents, drafting position statements and other documents
Experience responding to attorney demand letters, including collecting responsive documents
Experience investigating and responding to wage claims
Experience with Microsoft Office, Teams, Sharepoint, Workday, Navex, OnIt, Relativity, and timekeeping programs
Experience analyzing data and utilizing tools such as Spotfire or similar type of software
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all level of employees
Takes initiative by being proactive rather than reactive. Acts as a self-starter and seeks out opportunities for continuous improvement in the interest of expanding ones contribution.
Minimum Education: Associates Degree in legal studies or related field or Paralegal certification required; in addition to minimum experience, high school diploma/GED and two (2) years legal experience is accepted in lieu of degree.
