Hamline University is seeking a temporary, full-time paralegal to work on an independent contractor basis, for up to 6 months. This position serves as a contracts administrator, as well as provides legal and administrative support to the Universitys legal department. The incumbent hired will primarily work from Hamlines St. Paul campus, but will have the opportunity to work from home, on occasion.

Essential Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain the Legal departments contract management system, and provide a forward-looking focus, best practices, and project management concepts into contract administration processes and procedures.
Act as a liaison between legal department attorneys, University stakeholders, and other external parties involved in the contracting process, and assist with the determination and execution of contract deadlines.
Route, organize, and archive executed contracts in coordination with the Universitys records retention policy.
Search for and obtain existing contracts requested by legal department attorneys, and assist with follow-up on related informational requests.
Monitor and enforce the Universitys contracting policies and procedures.
Assist with drafting and editing of various legal documents, including , confidentiality and procurement agreements and RFPs.
Assist with compliance, due diligence, and legal support, including conducting basic legal research; compiling and analyzing information; and preparing findings/recommendations for review by legal department attorneys.
Manage and coordinate administrative functions within the legal department, such as: handling file maintenance; maintaining, updating, and revising legal department forms; coordinating meetings and preparing agendas; and answering phone/email correspondence.
Attend select stakeholder meetings on the St. Paul campus.
Contribute to other legal department goals and duties, as needed.

Minimum Requirements:
Two (2) years of experience as a paralegal.
Strong skills with Excel and Microsoft Word.
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to maintain complete confidentiality and discretion in business relationships and exercise sound business judgment.
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and multi-task.
Talent for organization, efficiency, and proactive improvement of the status quo.
Solid background in contracts with the ability to (a) draft form agreements; and (b) review, understand, synthesize, and communicate basic provisions from various types of contracts.

Preferred Requirements:
Paralegal certificate
Bachelors degree or higher
Prior contract management experience
Prior contract drafting experience
Prior project management experience
Prior litigation experience, particularly in the employment law area
